He began his career in 1978 with Core Laboratories as a mud logger (wellsite geologist) working in the Texas Gulf Coast, Offshore and the Rocky Mountains regions. After Core Lab, he started George Aubrey Oil Operations and Aubrey Oil Corporation based in Oklahoma City where he acquired prospects and operated leases in Oklahoma. Those two companies were rolled into Bellwether Exploration Company, eventually leading to a successful initial public offering in late 1980. During his tenure at Bellwether, he served as its Vice President of Exploration and Production as well as a Member of the Board of Directors. Bellwether merged with a Houston, Texas based oil and gas company, where he continued on as the Vice President of Operations, supervising over 600 fields with a total of over 7000 wells. He was also involved in the evaluation process in oil and gas property acquisitions totaling more than $700 million. In 1992, he co-founded Houtex Petroleum, Inc. with a small group of private investors, acquiring royalty and working interests in producing properties in the Mid-Continent region. Today, he continues his role as President. In October 2008, Mr. Aubrey formed Trailblazer Energy LLC to acquire producing oil and gas interests, drill development wells and conduct operations, which it does today, operating wells in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Mr. Aubrey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology from the University of Colorado and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and is a certified petroleum geologist (#3879). He was a founding member of the Denver Julesberg Petroleum Association, now Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA); a Member of Oklahoma Energy Producers Alliance (OEPA), Texas Independent Petroleum and Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO), and Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association (KIOGA).
